Here is a description of all the photos and an
introduction:
Werk VI, or Ardietti as it was later called by the Italians, is one of
the forts
designed by Tunkler, an Austrian colonel. He made his design in 1853,
but the
construction started only three years later. However because of the
campaign of
1859 the work was suspended and continued in 1860. In 1866 the fort came
on
Italian territory. Fortunately it did not suffer from any war and the
post-war
developpement of city of Pastrengo. After the war it was used by the
Italian
army as ammunition depot. Since it hasn't been vandalised it is still in
a
perfect order. A few years ago the army abandonned the site. Now the
community
owns the fort which is restored by a group of volunteers.
Eingang der früher mit einer Zugbrücke gesichert war.
The entrance of the fort, defended by the gun embrasures of the
reduit.
It seems that the gate has been modified to allow trucks to enter the
fort.

Die Wehrmauer der Kehlseite ist mit Zinnen bestückt.
The gorge wall has merlons instead of embrasures giving a
medieval look.

Der Ausgang führt zu einem Vorwerk auf dessen Dach ich stehe.
An overview of the reduit. With a with-angle lens (15 mm) it
seems even
bigger than it is in reality.
Die Mauer die man rechts angeschnitten sieht war mit Erde aufgefüllt
und diente als Laderampe für das oberste Stockwerk.
